Becoming an ethical sales professional is a key part of our membership. It involves passing an exam on sales ethics and committing to a code of conduct.

As a member of the IPS, you are expected to behave in a professional, honest, and ethical manner.

This Code of Conduct sets out your responsibilities to your customers, your employer, and your profession.

By committing to our Code of Conduct you are agreeing to:

1. Behave with integrity

Be straightforward and honest in all professional and business relationships, avoiding conflicts of interest and information that you believe is false or misleading

2. Sell suitable solutions

Make sure you are selling solutions that are in the best interests of your customer and your employer

3. Promote good sales practice

Commit to the continuous development of your professional knowledge and skills and promote the eradication of unethical business practices

4. Act lawfully

Make sure you comply with laws and regulations and act in the public interest, avoiding any action that could negatively affect the reputation of the sales profession.

To develop our qualifications, we combined the Government occupational standard for sales with an industry-based competency framework. This created a comprehensive set of professional sales qualifications which meet national standards and industry requirements.

All levels contain a blend of mandatory and optional of units, all of which contribute to a carefully crafted and up to date relevant knowledge, application and practical elements of selling.

Learning is provided through formats with students benefiting from highly relevant learning, leading to industry recognised qualifications.

Student Membership

Applicant must have a minimum of credit in five subjects at the Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE or its equivalent) level, including English Language and Mathematics. 

Associate Membership

Applicant must have a degree (HND or Bachelor’s Degree) and a minimum credit in five subjects at the Secondary School Certificate Examination level, including English Language and Mathematics. Graduate of any recognized tertiary institution may also be considered for admission, but must possess three (3) years sales experience. Or must present proof of a successfully undergone the Managerial leadership is Sales course at the Nungu Business School.

Certified /Full Membership

MBA / Fast tract course: Apply for Full Membership

This is specifically designed for individuals who have demonstrated cognate experience and experience in the core area Sales Profession and Management.

Fellow Membership

HND/Bsc/Master’s Degree plus six (6) years working experience and must have made significant contributions to the work of the institute and Sales profession. Must possess six (6) years post qualification experience. Corporate Membership of the Institute for at least 6 years. Active membership since year of admission.  Detailed Curriculum Vitae/ Resume. All certificates of academic & professional qualifications. Certificates courses / training/ conferences attended in the past 6 years. 2 Completed Referee Forms. Appointment / Employment Letters. Evidence of all claims made in the Form.

Honorary Membership

IPS Honorary Membership is the highest honours that the Institute can bestow on an individual. This is awarded in appreciation of their outstanding service to the Institute or in recognition of distinguished achievement in the Sales Profession or Sales related industry.
